A child who is sick and unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should remain home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve. Keeping a sick child home also protects other students, school staff, and visiting community members from contracting an illness that can spread from person to person. Please be aware of the following guidelines for school attendance:
For more information, see www.cfisd.net, Parent and Students/Health/Communicable Disease Control.
All medication, including prescription, non-prescription, cough drops, ibuprofen, etc. must be brought to the clinic by a parent/guardian. Medication will be secured in the clinic at all times. See www.cfisd.net, Parents and Students/Health/Medications.
Seventh grade students will be screened for hearing, vision, and Acanthosis Nigricans (a marker for insulin resistance). Eighth grade students will be screened for scoliosis.
If a student is ill and should not participate in PE/Athletics, parents may write a note and have their child bring it to the school nurse. The nurse will fill out a pass for the student to show teachers. Parent notes may remove a child for up to three days. If an extension is needed, a doctor’s note should be sent stating how long the student should be removed from PE/Athletics. Students may be given alternative assignments to complete during this time.
